JONES IMPRESSES Welsh internatio­nalist Kristian Jones (Swansea/Dundee Hawkhill) was a clear winner of the 3,000m at the British Milers Club meeting at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow, in 8:10.71, writes our athletics correspond­ent.

Alastair Hay (Central) was second in 8:10.71. Sol Sweeney (Perth Strathtay H) was third and took the Scottish U20 title in a PB of 8.22.12.

James Donald (Dundee Hawkhill) was sixth overall and took the U20 silver in 8.33.47. MINI TOUR OF FIFE Some 160 junior athletes completed the five races in the Mini Tour of Fife series, with the final race of the week held at Kingsbarns.

Over a one-mile course Calum Gibson (Dundee Hawkhill) maintained his unbeaten record in the U11s, with Isla Thoms (Fife AC) following second overall, achieving a 100% record in the U11 girls.

U9 winners Beinn Anderson (Strathkinn­ess Primary) and Ceres runner Nelli Luxford (unatt) were also unbeaten over the five races.

Over a three-mile course at Cambo Estate and Kingsbarns beach Anna Hedley (Fife AC) came home unbeaten in the U15 girls.

Younger sister Isla won four of her five races to claim the U13 girls.

Alex Douglas (Perth Strathtay) dominated the U13 boys. Ross Wyse (Fife AC) and Ben Macdermid (Dundee Hawkhill) won the U15 and U17 boys’ titles respective­ly.
