Video footage has emerged of a car being attacked in a Montrose street – by a perpetrator described as “two foot tall and full of feathers”.

A large seagull is seen pecking at the side of a black Jaguar car parked on Ferry Street on Sunday evening.

The footage was taken by Scott Forbes who said the video showed the second time the gull attacked the car after he initially scared it away.

He said: “I came out of the chippie with my daughter and I was walking across the road when I saw a seagull on the bonnet and another one was smashing its face off the side of the car.

“I chased it away but then it just went onto the bonnet as well. I threw a couple of chips to try to get them away from the car.

“We walked away and as I got to the corner I looked back and here it was again banging its head off the car. That’s when I started filming it. It went back for round two.”

Scott, who works at National Oilwell Varco, said his two-year-old daughter Chloe had also tried to help by shouting “boo” at the gulls.

The video, which has been shared online, was taken at around 8pm on Sunday night.

The bird was dubbed as ‘Freaky Fred’ by another Montrose resident.

Scott added: “It’s really bad for gulls in that street, it’s unreal some times.

“I’d never seen anything like this before. It was pretty shocking.

“It was laughable at first but then I thought if that was my motor I’d be pretty annoyed.

“It was really loud when it was hitting the car.

“If I’d seen a person kicking somebody’s car then I’d have something to say about it, but how do you report that – I saw a car getting vandalised by someone two foot tall and full of feathers?”
