Information provided for carers
An information stand will be situated in Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI) to mark National Carers Week.
Organised by NHS Tayside, visitors, staff and patients are being encouraged to visit the stand, which will be located in the hospital’s dining room on Friday, between 9.30am and 1pm.
Carers Week is a national awareness week that recognises the contribution of the 6.5 million people across the UK who provide care.
The information event aims to highlight the support and information available and encourage staff and members of the public to find out more about what they can do to help carers in their role.
Susan Johnston, NHS Tayside’s carers support facilitator, said: “This week is all about recognising the valuable role carers carry out by providing support to others, often on a daily basis.
“We hope that these information stands will raise awareness about the carers’ agenda for the public as well as our staff, who may be carers themselves.
“The carer hospital link worker in Perth will be helping. And I will be on hand to speak to anyone about their caring role, and would be happy to signpost them to help and support that is available.
“It’s important for carers to know what support is available.
“That is why we would encourage anyone who is a carer or knows someone who is a carer to visit our stands.”
