The winners of the Scottish Food and Drink excellence awards will describe their journey into food production and offer samples of their wares at the Royal Highland Show.

The best of Scotland’s produce will also be showcased at the event’s food and drink festival at Ingliston later this month.

There will be a tasting and talk theatre, an artisan cheese tasting area and the event’s Larder Live area will feature a range of artisan drinks, including Scottish gin and flavoured vodkas.

Berry Good will be offering Scotland’s first cold brew coffee liqueur, Cofaidh Liqueur, which is made using freshly roasted coffee beans from local roasters.

In the main cookery theatre there will be demonstrations and talks from chefs, including Andrew Whitley of Bread Matters and Edinburgh’s Paul Wedgwood.

Food-to-go providers will offer a selection of hot and cold food across the 110-acre showground and caterers will adhere to the show’s food charter which states, where possible, only ingredients that have been locally produced and ethically sourced should be served.

The Scottish cheese, butter and icecream championships will be held during the show week and, for the first time, the Scottish bread championships.

Show manager David Jackson said food had become a key part of the visitor experience at the event.

He said: “Scotland’s Larder Live gives visitors the chance to learn about the relationship between the farm, the producer and the consumer and have the opportunity to engage with the people who create, from field to fork, some of the finest food produced in Scotland.”
