Desert can lay down law at Musselburgh
Nine-year-old dangerously well handicapped and a course and distance winner
Plenty of familiar names contest the William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh, and DESERT LAW is fancied to come out on top.
The nine-year-old endured a largely disappointing campaign last year, but proved he is no back number with an impressive course and distance success in April.
That effort looked to have teed him up perfectly for his bid to win the Dash at Epsom for a second time. Although he came up short, he was not beaten far into seventh place.
The assessor was kind enough to drop him 1lb following that run and he is dangerously well handicapped heading into his latest big-race assignment.
Meanwhile, the most valuable event of the afternoon at York is the Catherine Kinloch Paver Memorial Macmillan Charity Handicap, in which progressive filly CARLTON FRANKIE should go well.
Mick Easterby’s Carlton Frankie is a
rapid filly with course form and remains open to improvement, so she ticks plenty of boxes.
MONDIALISTE can make the most of having his sights lowered a shade in the Best Western Hotels Ganton Stakes.
David O’Meara might be among the winners at Sandown, with his
FASHION QUEEN a likely candidate for top honours in the Randox Health Scurry Stakes. SELECTIONS:
