Space centre bosses offer stars to supporters of crowdfunding bid

-

Backers of a bid to build a £10 million Disney-style space centre on the edge of Kinross have revealed their latest fundraising initiative.

Aero Space Kinross is offering members of the public the chance to buy a star, to be displayed in the finished centre.

Pledgers can offer up to £100, which will get them a star with their name on it and 12 free visits. Aero Space Kinross (Ask) is the brainchild of former glider pilot Alisdair Stewart.

He has been raising funds through a Big Ask crowdfunding drive, as well as seeking investment through more traditional routes.

He said: “We really want to widen our reach and community engagement through our Big Ask with something fun and engaging.

“In essence, the Star Offer will give people a way to pledge smaller amounts of money and become involved in Aero Space Kinross at the very start without necessarily becoming a full investor.

“It will also give an additional reason for families and friends to visit our space flight and aviation centre in due course, as they will be able to point to their stars in the galaxy on the wall in the entrance foyer each time they come.

“It can also be a novel way of marking a big birthday, a means of remembering someone special, a or just a bit of fun.”

The Ask community share offer was launched in April by TV presenter Carol Vorderman and friends of Ask lending their support with their video “countdown” messages.

Ask is looking to raise between £25,000 and £475,000 through community backing alone and has three weeks to raise the remaining £12,000 needed.
