Smart Parking relocates RingGo pin

-

A failure in a parking app that led to a notorious site marked with the same location as on-street parking has been rectified.

Smart Parking allows motorists to use an app, RingGo, as one of the options for paying to use the Kinnoull Street multi-storey car park.

The app allows motorists to pay either by using a location code, or by selecting their position on a map.

However, until recently the position pins for Kinnoull Street and Kinnoull Street multistorey car park appeared on top of one another.

The Kinnoull Street multi-storey pin has now been moved, though the firm declined to say if tickets issued due to the mis-positioning will be cancelled.

Perth and North Perthshire MP Pete Wishart, who has hit out at Smart Parking over the issue, said: “After insisting that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the way their technology operated, Smart Parking have quietly rectified this issue.

“I sincerely hope that they see sense and cancel any charges that were sent as a result of this mistake.

“To accept there was an issue with the technology and to continue to chase people would be completely unacceptable.”

A spokesman for Smart Parking said: “We have not contacted RingGo about this so suggest The Courier contacts RingGo for comments about RingGo.”

RingGo was unavailable for comment.
