Police had to be called after a woman threw her boyfriend’s 14 foot long snake out the front door – only to turn her ire on them after they searched for the “massively scary” beast, a court heard yesterday.

Isabel Collins hurled the massive royal python snake out of the front door of a house in Arbroath’s Charles Avenue during a heated row with then-partner James Wilton in the early hours of January 2.

Police were called and located the massive snake before suggesting Mr Wilton leave the property for the night to defuse the situation.

He agreed and packed a bag before leaving with police, only for Collins to turn her rage on the officers.

Depute fiscal Jill Drummond told Forfar Sheriff Court that officers described the snake as “massively scary”.

She said: “Officers attended and found them outside.

“A 14 foot long royal python snake had allegedly been thrown outside.

“This was found and returned to the property by officers.

“Mr Wilton voluntarily said he would leave and stay elsewhere and began packing a bag.

“She was shouting and swearing towards officers, then ran towards a police vehicle and was banging and shouting extremely loudly words such as ‘f***’, ‘b ******* ’ and ‘c***’.”

Collins, 37, of Charles Avenue, Arbroath, pled guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Defence solicitor Gary Foulis said: “This was an extremely unsavoury incident and she apologises.

Sheriff Alison McKay fined Collins £250. She said: “This is the fourth time you have come to the attention of the court, all in relation to similar matters.”
