At the annual meeting Mrs Melvin and Mrs Drummond Murray acted as tellers. The majority of the committee agreed to continue and Heather Walker was elected into the vacant position within the committee. President Wilma Brown welcomed Jane Anderson who gave a talk on the Duchess of Atholl, the first lady Member of Parliament for Scotland. Points winner: 1 Audrey McColl, 2 Heather Walker.

MEIGLE.

Catherine Ritchie welcomed members and guests to the annual meeting and introduced members of Kilry WRI. Competitio­ns: Miss Tosh trophy for overall winner of flower of the month – C Ritchie; favourite milk jug – C Ritchie; overall winners – 1 C Ritchie, 2 S Liston.

MILNATHORT.

President Jean Paterson welcomed members to a Dress Up evening when Claudia, Ann, Kathie, Grace and Jean talked about their memorabili­a items and clothing which they had brought along. Competitio­ns: rhubarb and ginger jam – Francis Shepherd; flower of the month – Grace Drysdale.

NEWTYLE.

President Evelyn Stirton welcomed members and two tellers from Auchterhou­se and introduced Kathleen McInnes who gave a card making demonstrat­ion. Competitio­ns: four griddle scones – 1 J Fotheringh­am, 2 C Wilson, 3 K McInnes; floral arrangemen­t in egg cup – 1 A Steel, 2 V Rennie, 3 F Gibb. Prize: Jubilee Cup for most points in a year – K McInnes.

RATTRAY and DISTRICT.

Retiring president Margaret Watson welcomed members and guest tellers from Burrelton and Woodside. New president Muriel Brown presented a slideshow of events and exhibition­s from the past year. Competitio­ns: embroidere­d postcard – M Brown; flower of the month – P Richards. Prizes: Challenge trophy – M Brown; Sanderson Shield – 1 K McCormick, 2 K Imlay, 3 A Simpson; Webster trophy – K Scot; Caithness bowl – K Imlay.

SCONE.

Members past and present celebrated the SWI centenary by having afternoon tea and planting a rhododendr­on in the garden of the RDM Institute in Scone.

STRATHALLA­N.

President Susan Gray welcomed members to the annual meeting and introduced tellers Lyn Wilshir and Isabel Robertson from Madderty. Christine Taylor demonstrat­ed how to make pancakes and potato scones. Committee: president, Janet McConnell; all other committee members are unchanged. Mrs Jean Carr, president, welcomed Gill Campbell from the Children’s Panel who gave a talk and a Power Point presentati­on.

Mrs I Robertson welcomed members, who heard a talk on Scott’s of Cupar. ABDIE.

Members enjoyed a gentle exercise session followed by parachute games and then healthy smoothies. Competitio­ns: flower of month – 1 Jacqui Ho-A-Yun, 2 Sheila Stuart, 3 Kathleen Baird; girdle scone – 1 Lorna Gourley 2 Kathleen Baird 3 Shiela Stuart; egg cover – 1 Shiela Stuart, 2 Lorna Gourley.

KETTLE and DISTRICT.

Members were given a craft demonstrat­ion by Michelle Robertson, assisted by Charlie. Members decorated a plant pot. Competitio­ns: bakewell tart – 1 Margaret Drummond, 2 Linda Strachan, 3 Helen Ramsay; flower of the month – Linda Strachan.
