Burke looks to have found Parnassian easier task
racing: Encouraging effort over six furlongs at Pontefract last time out makes son of Elzaam the pick of the bunch
Karl Burke’s PARNASSIAN can return to winning ways in the Sky Bet Royal Windsor Sprint Series Handicap at Windsor.
Since winning his first two starts last season, the son of Elzaam has faced a few stiff tasks but this looks his easiest for a while.
He ended his juvenile campaign with a very good run at Newcastle behind Kananee, who is now rated 101, and Sutter County, who sits on a mark of 108.
Reappearing at York over seven furlongs, Parnassian blatantly failed to see out the trip on soft ground, trailing home well beaten.
Back to six last time out at Pontefract, he ran a much better race when second to Golden Apollo.
The winner has since gone on to follow up in a valuable three-year-old sprint at York so that form is red-hot.
While he was beaten five lengths by the upwardly mobile scorer, the handicapper has left him on the same mark and he beat the rest comfortably.
Hughie Morrison’s RUMPOLE could defy top weight in a tight looking Sky Bet Top Price Promise Handicap.
Unraced at two, he was fourth in a good Newbury maiden won by Call To Mind on his debut.
Over the same course and distance he faces here, he then had no trouble opening his account from a subsequent winner.
Making his handicap debut off 81 at Doncaster he cut no ice, beaten over four lengths, but the ground was soft there. Back on a quicker surface, he is taken to show his true worth. Ralph Beckett’s MAID TO

Third behind the classy Dubai Thunder on debut at Newbury, he then bumped into an odds-on shot from the John Gosden yard last time out.
