The father of missing man Allan Bryant has been charged with breach of the peace after an altercation outside a house being searched in Glenrothes.

It is understood Allan Bryant Sr became involved in a heated exchange with occupants of a property in Barnton Place which has been sealed off by officers since June 16.

Police have confirmed the search of the two-storey, end-terrace house in the town’s Newcastle area is in connection with the disappearance of Allan Jr, who has not been seen since he left a local nightclub during November 2013. Allan Jr was 23 when he disappeared. Police Scotland confirmed Allan Sr had been charged yesterday and would appear in court at a later date.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Glenrothes have charged a 51-year-old man in connection with a breach of the peace that happened in Barnton Place, Glenrothes.

“The incident happened on Monday June 26.

“He will appear in court at a later date.”

Police have now spent 11 days at the property in Barnton Place.

Allan Sr said he is still waiting to hear if officers have discovered anything at the house which could point to what happened to his son more than threeand-a-half years ago. “Police are still at the house,” he said. “We don’t know what’s going on and we’re waiting for an update from police.

“They need to keep us in the loop, especially with all this going on. “Tensions are running high now.” Allan Sr believes his son is dead and has previously spoken of the need for the search at Barnton Place to bring the family closure.

Allan Jr disappeared after a night out with friends on November 3 2013.

He had been at Styx Nightclub on Caskieberran Road, Glenrothes, with CCTV footage showing him leaving the venue in the early hours of the morning.

High profile appeals have been made by both his family and the police, while searches have been conducted throughout the town and across Fife.

However, there remains no trace of Allan Jr, who would now be 27.
