Some of the finest days out in the country are to be had in Tayside and Fife, with the regions scooping some top prizes at the Scottish Hospitality Awards.

Chosen by members of the public, the awards recognised the quality of Tayside and Fife’s tourism offering, together with the warm welcome on offer here.

Impressing voters with the quality of every visit was historic Blair Castle, which was unveiled as the winner of the prestigious Tourist Attraction Of The Year title at a ceremony in Glasgow.

The Outdoor Venue Of The Year prize went to the ever-popular Knockhill Racing Circuit, while HM Frigate Unicorn in Dundee was named Family Venue of the Year.

For the second year in a row, the Pub of the Year (Central) title was awarded to The Moulin Inn, whose microbrewery has long proved a hit with visitors.

Blair Castle marketing manager Julia Sims says: “We are delighted and proud to win these two awards, with the Castle picking up Best Tourist Attraction and our Blair Castle Caravan Park winning Best Caravan Park.

“Our team work endlessly to make Blair Castle the best day out for our customers and to be recognised by this industry award makes all the hard work worth it. We have a very special corner of Perthshire and look forward to a busy summer.

“The Caravan Park is a real jewel in the crown for us and the winner of numerous industry awards.”

The Scottish Hospitality Awards were set up to celebrate the success of local professionals and establishments.

This year’s awards ceremony was attended by more than 200 guests and was hosted by broadcaster Farah Bradford and Sky Sports TV presenter David Tanner.

Irfan Younis, CEO of organisers Creative Oceanic, says: “We were honoured and delighted to have such great finalists and winners representing the Scottish hospitality industry.

“They all enhance its reputation nationally and internationally.

“These were the second annual Scottish Hospitality Awards and I believe they are a true reflection of the talent in Scotland.

“We want to make sure that the hard work of Scottish hospitality professionals doesn’t go unnoticed.”

The title of Best Day Out In Scotland was taken home by the Highland Wildlife Park, where polar bears Walker, Arktos and Victoria are firm favourites with visitors.

The HM Frigate Unicorn and Moulin Inn were among those businesses honoured for their hard work by members of the public at the Scottish Hospitality Awards in Glasgow.
