Woman’s action ‘out of character’

-

A Rattray woman behaved in a threatening manner following a drinking session at the New Year, a court was told.

Perth Sheriff Court heard that Anna Bukowska had been drinking after an argument with her husband.

Her husband attempted to leave the property in Coralbank Crescent, Rattray, in a bid to defuse matters.

However, Bukowska, 34, then got hold of a knife and brandished the weapon, telling her husband she wanted to end her life.

Depute-fiscal Robbie Brown said: “The accused appears to have been drinking alcohol over an extended period, from Hogmanay on a Saturday into Sunday afternoon.

“The main issue here seems to have been alcohol.”

Mr Brown told the court that Bukowska made certain accusations towards her husband but he didn’t wish to “ramp up the confrontation”.

“As her husband tried to leave the house, the accused picked up the knife and made the threats,” he added.

Solicitor David Sinclair, defending, said his client was not in the habit of “drinking to excess”.

“This incident was completely out of character,” he said.

Bukowska admitted she behaved in a threatening manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing, refusing to allow her husband to leave the property and brandishing a knife on January 1. Sheriff William Wood admonished her.
