Christmas lights charity awarded thousands by funding scheme

A charity that raises money each year to provide the Christmas lights and the festive tree in Kinross has been gifted £1,000 by a national housebuilder.

Light up Kinross, which receives no funding from the council to decorate the area in readiness for Christmas, has received the cash from the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.

David Colliar from the charity said: “Each year the cost of decorating the area and paying for repairs, renewals and insurance policies is between £2,500 and £3,000.

“We rely solely on the donations of local traders and members of the public to keep the decorations and Christmas spirit alive in Kinross.”
