Lower river seeing more catches

-

Last week saw the Stobhall to Islamouth area continuing to be the most productive part of the River Tay for salmon.

The lower part of the river is now producing more fish, with Almondmouth, Waulkmill and Lower Redgorton all catching. Further up, Luncarty, Upper Redgorton, Fishponds and Benchil produced fish as well.

Stobhall had 15 for the week, with Andrew Wright and his father doing well.

Ballathie and Cargill continue to produce good catches. Cargill saw fish most days, started off by Martin Wilson with a 16lb fish from the Pot Shot. Lawrie Parker caught his first Tay salmon in 10 visits.

Tony Clements and David Harrington caught fish up to 16lb and the Drury party enjoyed success.

Islamouth enjoyed their usual success, with Arnot McWhinnie, Allan McCaig and Ian Gellatly catching at the end of the week.

Meikleour and Upper Islamouth had four, including a brace for Simon Littlejohn.

The middle river is doing reasonably well. Kercock, Delvine, Murthly and Glendelvine all produced fish. Willie Cumming caught at Delvine Burnbane and John Dewar at Glendelvine.

Andrew Sayers and Gary McFadyen caught fish up to 13lb on Dalmarnock. Paul Hunter and Carol Scott were the lucky rods at Dalguise. At Kinnaird Iain McLaren and Saul MacKay enjoyed success with the fly.

The upper river is seeing steady sport.
