Angus golfers have a record to maintain in this week’s Scottish amateur championship. Every year it has been played at Carnoustie the county has had at least one man in the semi-final. Hosie who set the ball rolling when the championship first went to Carnoustie in 1930. He beat Jack Bookless (Inverness).

Police shot the 31-yearold dead in a hail of bullets through the vehicle’s windscreen. Perthshire woman Sandra Kinloch revealed the truck flashed within two metres of her with no lights on.
