Loons boss satisfied with club spirit

Forfar welcome Stirling Albion to Station Park for their first home fixture in the Betfred Cup and manager Gary Bollan is pleased with the spirit his new-look squad has shown on the road.

The Loons hit back late to grab a 1-1 draw at Glebe Park on Tuesday and despite losing the penalty shoot-out there was enough on display for Bollan to be satisfied.

He said: “We played well at Brechin and there was plenty to be positive about.

“It is still early in the season and there is a bit of fitness to come but the players kept on going until the last minute to get the penalty that we equalised from.

“We now face a demanding schedule with four games in a row so I will freshen the side up as we go along, starting against Stirling.”

Bollan is predicting a tough afternoon against Dave Mackay’s side.

He said: “Stirling were disappointed with how they played when they lost to Falkirk last Saturday, however they did really well on Tuesday night when they kept out Inverness.

“Like us they lost the penalty shoot-out but again like us they will have taken plenty of positives from the game and view this one as the chance to get a win.

“Dave recruited well over the summer and brought in a fair amount of experience. In Peter MacDonald they have a terrific striker leading their attack.”

Bollan has listed the same squad as Tuesday night with Marc McCallum continuing in goal in the absence of Grant Adam who has been ill. Michael Kennedy and Murray Mackintosh are out injured.
