Every match vital to put pressure on leaders

-

Third-placed Meigle are at home to league leaders Stoneywood Dyce and Perth Doo’cot travel to Gordonians.

Although the gap between the top two and the rest is considerable, a good run-in from either Perth or Meigle could hoist them into challenge range.

Unlike the other three in the top four, Meigle had a game last week. They saw off Strathmore, who lasted less than 23 overs and were 67 runs short of target.

Stoneywood Dyce present a whole different set of challenges.

With a nine-from-10 win record in the league thus far, S/D would have to be favourites over Meigle’s five-fromnine record.

Like Stoneywood Dyce, Gordonians have lost only one game from nine starts, while Perth Doo’cot have just four wins to their name. Given these stats, it would seem that it would take a fair old upset or two to change the order at the top.

Elsewhere, Kinloch continue their miserable league season, which has resulted in only one league win, with a visit from Arbroath United who have blown hot and cold resulting in a five wins and five losses record. They would expect to make that six wins after facing the league’s whipping boys.

Dundee have shown a lack of consistency, which accounts for another record of wins equalling losses, although they have the ability to put a decent total together. However, so have Mannofield, today’s visitors to Dalnacraig.

With both sides pretty well clear of the relegation zone, it could be a highscoring game if they can relax and enjoy it.

That is something Strathmore will be unable to do when they host Forfarshire II, who will also approach this one with some nervousness. Defeat at the hands of Strathie would mean an exchange of places, with Shire likely dropping into second-bottom spot and their opponents climbing marginally away from the drop zone.
