Climate change exhibition Whole Earth? coming to village
A forthcoming exhibition at Birnam Arts, supported by Perth and Kinross Council, will highlight the issue of climate change.
Whole Earth? will officially open at 2pm on August 6, and will look at sustainability and how best to protect the natural and human worlds in the future through a series of 20 questions covering topics including resources, population, poverty, human rights and the environment.
It was launched originally in 2015 by the Hard Rain Project and the National Union of Students on the premise that the future belongs to today’s young people, and that students and universities everywhere have a major role in making society much more sustainable.
The exhibition has been organised by the council’s planning and development service in collaboration with Birnam Arts and local community group Birnam Climate Café.
Councillor Colin Stewart, convener of Perth and Kinross Council’s enterprise and infrastructure committee, said: “As part of our commitment to Scotland’s Climate Change Declaration, we want to raise awareness of the impact of climate change and the issues around it. Bringing a major exhibition like Whole Earth? to Perth and Kinross provides an exciting opportunity to highlight the subject.
“I am very pleased that we have been able to work with Birnam Arts and Birnam Climate Café to achieve this and I hope it will encourage and engage people in Perth and Kinross.”
Jess Pepper, of Dunkeld and Birnam Climate Cafe, said: “It is such an exciting opportunity to be able to see this acclaimed exhibition.”
