Opera to return to Crieff stage

-

Perth City Operatic Group (PCOG) will play a major role in Crieff Remembers.

The series of events form a national commemoration to mark 100 years since the battle of Passchendaele.

In 1915 Strathearn Operatic Society performed Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘Pirates of Penzance’ to raise funds for The Red Cross Society and Soldiers and Sailors Families Association.

And PCOG are excited to be performing a concert version of the same show in the very same venue used more than 100 years ago.

It takes place at The Academy Hall in Strathearn Terrace on Saturday August 5 at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be booked at perthcog.co.uk, Strathearn Artspace or Carnelian Crafts.

The group will also be performing a full version of the classic operetta at The North Inch Community Campus in Perth from September 5-9.

A wealth of events will be taking place during Crieff Remembers, which has been organised by Festivals Crieff.

The main attraction will be this weekend’s parade, drumhead service and community day at the town’s Market Park.

The national level commemoration will welcome veterans, serving soldiers and pipe bands, and is backed by Poppy Scotland and Legion Scotland.

It will begin at 10.30am with a parade through the town, en-route to the Market Park where it is hoped the whole community will come together.
