Runners sign up for Killin race

-

Scores of runners are gearing up for a popular Highland Perthshire sports event.

The Killin 10k takes place on Saturday, August 26.

In order to accommodate the race’s growing popularity, runners will take a slightly different route in this annual event, which is now in its seventh year, .

The race, which starts and finishes in Breadalbane Park, is set against the backdrop of the Tarmachan mountain range and a stone’s throw from Loch Tay.

Runners will head through the village and across the Falls of Dochart before joining the old railway line, which runs parallel to the river.

After crossing the river for a second time runners will come back into the village and run a loop of Glen Lochay, tracing the Lochay River, before finishing in Breadalbane Park.

Entry is £17 and includes a medal and goody bag for all runners.

A fun run for people of all ages, of approximately 1km, will also take place within Breadalbane Park during the 10k.

Participants are being encouraged to return to the village hall after the run for a lunch provided by Killin Cancer Research Committee.

The event has been supported by local groups including Portnellan and Wheels Cycling Centre, Callander. For more details and to register for the run, visit killin10k.co.uk
