Rail awareness open day
The ScotRail Alliance is hosting a rail awareness open day at Perth Station on August 28, from noon until 1.45pm.
A spokesperson for ScotRail said: “Customers who have concerns about how they can access rail services and who may need assistance to use trains are invited to come along and speak to the team at the station.
“The aim of the awareness session is to encourage more people with reduced mobility or disabilities to use the railway and see trains as their preferred mode of transport.”
The event is open to all residents, including parents with young disabled children, older people with disabilities and elderly customers. It is also available to carers and those with sight impairments.
A train will be available for boarding and alighting during the session and ScotRail Alliance staff will be on hand to discuss individual customer requirements.
Rob Shorthouse, ScotRail Alliance communications director, said: “If people need assistance when travelling come down and see us on August 28. There’s a lot we can do to make sure people’s journey is as smooth as possible.
“Last year we enabled over 78,000 journeys for customers with a wide variety of needs. Part of what we do is making travel accessible to all.”
