Kinross athlete Eilidh Doyle will line up in the 400m hurdles at the Müller Grand Prix Birmingham this Sunday, fresh from her 4x400m relay silvermedal performance at the London World Championships

Doyle, Zoey Clark, Laviai Nielsen, and Emily Diamond ran a brilliant race in the London Stadium, clocking 3:25.00, to finish second behind an outstanding US team.

Doyle said: “After seeing the incredible performances from both the sprint relay teams we were really fired up to do well and it paid off.

“To win a world silver medal on home soil is amazing and it’s given me a real boost going into the Müller Grand Prix on Sunday, where I’ll be looking to end my UK season with a good result in the 400m hurdles.”

Doyle will have a tough task facing newly-crowned world champion Kori Carter, silver medallist Dalilah Muhammad (both USA) and bronze medallist Ristananna Tracey (Jamaica).

Relay colleague Zoey Clark (Aberdeen AAC) will contest the flat 400m while all four of the bronze medal winning men’s quartet of Matthew Hudson-Smith, Dwayne Cowan, Rabah Yousif and Martyn Rooney will race over 400m.

The men produced a superb performance in the world final, recording a season’s best of 2:59.00 seconds to finish behind Trinidad and Tobago and the US, taking the British medal tally to six.

All four gold medallists from the men’s 4x100m relay team will be in action in Birmingham.

First- and second-leg runners CJ Ujah and Adam Gemili will race in the 100m, while third-leg athlete Danny Talbot and anchor Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake line up in the 200m.

The four women’s world silver medal winning stars Asha Philip, Desiree Henry, Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita will all race in the 100m.

Eilish McColgan goes up against World Championships 5,000m silver medallist Hellen Obiri and Molly Huddle in the 3,000m.

Dunblane athlete Andrew Butchart will round-off his momentous season running the 3,000m.

The Central AC runner has established himself at global level despite feeling a little frustrated by his eighth place in the 5,000m final at London.

Butchart clocked 13.38.73 after making a surge to join Farah at the front with around 500m remaining but was caught by half-a-dozen rivals by the bell. It was a second global final in a row for Butchart having finished a fine sixth last year in Rio at his first Olympics.

“It was eighth in the world so it isn’t too bad a place to be,” said Butchart.

Butchart will be up against four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah who will run his last track race on home soil.

His final race on the track before concentrating on road races will be the Zurich Diamond League on Thursday.
