British hip hop star Tinchy Stryder will be hitting Dundee for a live show this August Bank Holiday.

Tinchy Stryder has had seven UK top 10 hits and a gold-certified album.

His hits include the number one Never Leave You and number threeTake Me Back.

There’s a pop punk show at Church on Sunday where Oh God Not Another Wild Goat Promotions presents Woes, Campfires, Hopes up High, Frown and Inertia.

Advance tickets are £6 from Groucho’s or you can pay on the door from 7pm.

Dundee promoters Make That A Take Records presents another great night of hardcore screamo and indie rock on Sunday night.

Earplugs are strongly recommende­d as Scots warriors Stonethrow­er provide some monolithic slabs of insane, angular hardcore from the ecossemo’s most thunderous three-piece. Louder than war, Stonethrow­er have been absolutely destroying audiences across Scotland ahead of the release of their forthcomin­g LP.

Expect melody, noise and intensity in equal amounts – and by the bucketload.

Support comes in the shape of skewed, upbeat, wonky, indie rock/noise-pop by Folkestone punk rock four-piece Eat Me, paying their first visit to Dundee as part of their summer UK tour and blasting out some super hooky material with danceable guitars and driving slacker beats, like Pavement/Weezer/ Dinosaur Jr.

Also on the bill are John Wheels, providing some earnest indie/screamo with the righteousn­ess and energy of youth. The noise-drenched DIY punkers will be coming back to the basement for their first MTAT show in ages.

The action takes place at Conroy’s Basement, Meadowside. Doors open at 7pm and entry is a fiver.

Cherry Bombz are unplugged tonight at Shotz Snooker Hall at 9pm, then on Sunday at The Neptune in Montrose from 3pm.

Alternativ­e rock five-piece The Violent Whispers are at The Westport Bar tomorrow. Hailing from Dundee, the band has gigged extensivel­y over the last few years in local venues and beyond. Admission is free and the music starts at 10pm.

Number 57 has a memorial evening tonight for Ron Martin – AKA Scoobie – with various guest artists and bands playing from 7.30pm. Entry is £3 on the door.

Tomorrow Ringer are in the teatime slot at 5.30pm, then on Sunday it’s The Junkyard Dogs in their usual 7pm residency.

Chilli Dogs are at McDaniels tonight from 9pm, then tomorrow it’s rock and indie covers from Buck Rogers at 9.30pm.

Reckless Kettle teams up with the latest Dundee record hustler This Way Up for a back-to-back set at the Reading Rooms tonight.

Vinyl Matt and Fergus Tibbs will be providing the tunes from 10.30pm.

Entry is free before 11.30pm, £5 afterwards.

The Locarno boys are back tomorrow with their alternativ­e slice of 50s and 60s music. Red, Steven, Reuben and Max will be playing the best in rock & roll, soul, surf, pop, garage, rockabilly and more from 10pm.

It’s £5 before midnight, £7 after (£4/6 for students).

Headroom kick off the weekend at the Bank Bar from 9.30pm.

Tomorrow it’s Fizzle Chimps at the same time.

Songwriter­s Sunday is hosted by Gav McGinty and Martin Tino Allan from 8.30pm.

Dave Webster’s open mic is on Wednesday at 8.30pm.

The Funkin’ Idiots bring floor-filling funk and disco to Clark’s on Lindsay Street tonight.

Tomorrow it’s party time with Fife’s finest, The Columbos.

Both start at 9.30pm with free entry before midnight.

The Sunday Song Club is hosted this week by Sinderins’ Dave Webster and Stevie Anderson from 7.30pm.

Pre-Production is back on Thursday with the longoverdu­e return of Orange Claw Hammer playing Avant rock-jazz blues from the classic albums of the legendary Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band.
