Appeal for help finding man who tried to steal pensioner’s handbag

-

A 79-year-old woman bravely fought off an attacker who attempted to snatch her handbag in a daylight attack in Kinross.

The victim was left injured as a result of the struggle, in which she was pushed to the ground as she walked through the town on Saturday afternoon.

A search has now been launched for the man, who made off in a car after his attempted robbery.

Police Scotland said the woman’s attacker struck at around 3.30pm as she was walking at the junction of Station Road and Douglas Crescent.

He is thought to have leapt from the car to attempt the robbery.

She held on, and having failed in his efforts her attacker is said to have fled empty-handed.

He made a swift escape from the area in a small white car and was last seen heading in the direction of the M90.

Investigators are now asking the public for help tracking him down.

Police Scotland said: “The victim was walking in Kinross when she was approached by a man who pushed her to the ground and attempted to rob her.

“The woman managed to retain her bag but sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.”
