Dundee dance partners are world champions

Duo gave their winning performanc­e in the under 8s category at the street dance championsh­ips

A Dundee dancing duo have become world champions after winning first place in a street dance competitio­n.

Ana Devine and Oliver Nisbet, who competed in the under 8s category, won their prize at the UDO Street Dance World Championsh­ips in Glasgow at the weekend.

The pair practise their art at the Lochee-based Addicted 2 Dance group.

A number of other individual dancers, pairs and teams from the group also won prizes at the championsh­ips.

Laura Nisbet, who runs Addicted 2 Dance, said: “We are really pleased with the results.

“The kids have all worked really hard and we’re all happy and exhausted.

“We had so many winners, who were up against tough competitio­n.”

The full results for the group were: Ellie Meldrum, under 16 beginner, 6th place; Ana Devine, under 8 beginner, 4th place; Oliver Nisbet, under 8, intermedia­te, 2nd place; Oliver Nisbet and Ana Devine, world champions; Eve Devine and Brianna Mitchell, under 10, beginners, 4th place; Team Loyalty, under 10 intermedia­te/advanced, 6th place; team Unleashed, over 18, 8th place.

The competitor­s were aged between seven and 21, and battled for prizes in their respective age groups against movers and shakers from around the world.

Addicted 2 Dance is based on Lorne Street in Lochee and hold classes, workshops and camps for the dancers.
