Ranting student bit her brother and tried to punch police officer

-

A university student bit her brother on the hand during a drunken argument before attempting to punch a police officer.

Roseanna Dickie had been on a night out in Perth before returning home to Auchterarder.

There she became abusive towards family members and when they tried to usher her to bed to sleep off the effects of the alcohol, she bit her brother, Jonathan, on the hand.

Yesterday at Perth Sheriff Court, Dickie pleaded guilty to two charges of assault, as well as one of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Depute fiscal Lisa Marshall told the court that the 18-yearold had arrived home at 1.30am. She said: “The accused’s mother and brother were in the living room when she came home. She was very drunk and had dirty feet and face. She stated that she had fallen.

“Her family tried to usher her to bed to sleep off the drink but she became aggressive.

“Her brother approached her to try and calm her down but she continued to rant at them and bit him on the heel of his right hand, breaking the skin.”

Dickie, whose address was given as the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in Carmathen, admitted assaulting Jonathan Dickie by pushing him and biting him, assaulting Sergeant William Ross by attempting to punch him, and to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and swearing in an aggressive manner.

All the offences took place at an address on Auchterarder’s High Street on December 30 last year. Sentence was deferred for reports.
