Car firm director flouts ban

-

A member of a Perth business dynasty flouted a driving ban to get behind the wheel of his high-powered Mercedes.

Christopher Dickson, who is a director of family firm Dickson’s of Perth, was disqualified from driving earlier this year after being found guilty of causing an accident which left three young children screaming in terror.

Despite the 30-year-old being banned from driving for 40 months, he was caught behind the wheel on August 3.

Yesterday at Perth Sheriff Court, Dickson pleaded guilty to driving on Balhousie Street, Perth, without a licence, and also to driving without insurance. Sentence on Dickson, of Balhousie Street, was deferred for reports.

In January, Dickson was convicted of several offences, which took place on February 28 last year.

He was found to be driving over the alcohol limit on various streets in Perth.

He was also found guilty of driving without due care and attention by turning right without indicating, moving off from stationary when it was unsafe to do so and causing an oncoming vehicle to take evasive action, overtaking the vehicle before stopping suddenly in front of it and causing a collision with the other car, damaging it.

And he was convicted of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence.
