Stars are gelling in build-up to ‘competitive’ season: Pacha

-

Dundee Stars head coach Omar Pacha believes the Elite League will be packed with thrilling matches this season.

The Canadian playcaller says he and his squad are excited about what lies ahead, with the Dundee outfit opening their campaign with a home joust against Belfast Giants today (face-off 7pm).

Stars then face Edinburgh Capitals in a challenge match tomorrow (face-off 6pm).

The players continued to develop as a unit in training on Thursday and Pacha’s only concern is about his team.

He said: “Belfast have played some matches. You can only control the controllable. I can’t control Belfast, that is out of our control.

“What I can control is Dundee Stars. We’ll have had a week of practice by Saturday and the guys are working hard and they are gelling as a unit.

“This is a process. Saturday’s game is part of that process and so is Sunday’s game in Edinburgh.”

Pacha, who is without three players as they await documentation, added: “We’re focusing on our brand of hockey and focusing on ourselves but what I can say is that judging by what is going on and I’m hearing, the league this season will be competitive.”

New Fife Flyers player Liam Heelis will meet up with two of his former Acadia University team-mates in netminder Evan Mosher and forward Brett Thomson, who now play for the Copenhagen-based side, tonight.

The match gets under way at 7.15pm, with the second meeting tomorrow having a 6pm face-off.
