PERTH One of Tayside’s most popular flower shows will be held this weekend.

The Perth and District Chrysanthe­mum and Dahlia Society is gearing up for its annual “early” event in Bridge of Earn on Sunday. The event will take place at the Bridge of Earn Institute from noon to 4pm.

Admission is free and there will be a sale of flowers at the close of the show. STRATHMORE The Collace and Kinrossie SWI begin the 2017-18 syllabus on Tuesday, with a talk and demonstrat­ion by Jillian Page from Something Special florists in Blairgowri­e.

The competitio­ns are a jar of mixed fruit jam and an autumnal floral arrangemen­t.

Meetings are held in Kinrossie Hall at 7.30pm on the second Tuesday of the month. FLOWERS Perth Flower Club’s first meeting after the summer break is on Monday in the Grampian Hotel at 7.30pm.

The next meeting on October 9 will have a wedding theme, where the members and visitors can have a go at making button holes, table decoration­s, and napkin folding, all under the supervisio­n of experts. All material will be provided.

There will also be a demonstrat­ion of how to do a wedding pedestal and welcome flowers, as well as a chance to get handson experience. MUSIC Folk music stars Fiddlers To The Fore will perform at Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Sunday from 8pm.

Previously known as Fiddlers’ Rally, the group is preparing for its return to the theatre along with soloists and special guests Ross Ainslie and Ali Hutton and compère, Gary Innes. BURNS The Perth Burns Club’s first night of the new season will be held in the Salutation Hotel at 7.30pm on Tuesday. There will be a talk on “Detective work around the Crinan Canal”.
