Further improvement works planned for M90 slip road
Motorists can expect to face fresh delays as the M90 in Kinross-shire is readied for a further five weeks of maintenance.
The scheme focuses on the junction 8 northbound off-slip to the A91 and is expected to cost £440,000.
BEAR Scotland’s package of improvements involves essential bridge maintenance work including repairs to the bridge deck, waterproofing, kerb reinstatement, gully improvements and resurfacing to more than a kilometre of the slip road and bridge.
The work should ensure the slip road and bridge continue to function safely.
To keep roads teams as well as motorists safe during the upgrades, a full closure of the slip road will be required.
The scheme will begin on Monday September 11.
Drivers travelling onto the A91 towards Cupar and St Andrews are advised to use Junction 6 at Kinross, adding around five minutes to journey times.
BEAR Scotland’s Andy Thompson said: “These essential maintenance works will ensure that the junction and slip road will remain in a safe condition for years to come.
“We only ever close slip roads when it is absolutely necessary to ensure everyone’s safety, and in this case the road is too narrow to allow the slip to remain open.
“Our teams will make full use of the closure by carrying out as many individual schemes as possible – from minor repairs to full deck maintenance on the bridge – to ensure that the slip road continues to meet our high standards and also limit the need for future maintenance and disruption on the slip road.”
