Special awareness morning
A special awareness morning for all types of carers is being held on October 4.
Organised by the Dementia Café committee, the event will be held in the main hall of the North Church in the High Street, Perth, where stallholders from many of the caring and support services in Perth and Kinross will be present from 10am until noon.
These will include Telecare Services, Perth Foodbank, Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Citizen Advice Bureau and the Neuroprogressive and Dementia Network.
In addition, there will also be representatives from the Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS) and NHS occupational therapy as well as Alzheimer Scotland.
A spokesperson for the Dementia Café committee said: “There has been very positive feedback from carers on previous occasions who tell us that they are able to spend quality time with stallholders who are able to answer their questions, or suggest another person who may be able to help.
“All carers are warmly invited to have a coffee and cake while browsing the stallholders’ information tables. A morning, or even a short visit to our event may help in some small way.
“We realise there are carers who are trying to juggle family life and caring responsibilities who can’t attend. If they would like to ask a friend to attend on their behalf, he or she will be made most welcome.”
