A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Glenrothes at the weekend.

Greig Love, 20, of Glenrothes, made no plea when he appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.

His appearance followed the death of Daniel O’Farrell.

Paramedics were called to a house in Greenlaw Crescent, in the town’s Macedonia area, at around 10am on Saturday – however, the 21-year-old was declared dead at the scene.

Yesterday, a visible police presence remained outside the terraced property, with uniformed officers stationed at a cordon around the house.

It has since emerged that Mr O’Farrell became father to a baby girl – his third child – less than a fortnight ago, describing himself in an online post as “the happiest dad alive”.

Meanwhile, a man appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court yesterday following the death of a man in Kelty last week.

Colin Oliphant was found dying in a house in Keltyhill Avenue on Wednesday morning.

William Richardson, 34, made no plea after being charged with the murder of Mr Oliphant.

Richardson, whose address was given only as Glasgow, was remanded in custody and is expected to return to court soon.

Paramedics were unable to save the life of Mr Oliphant, a 38-year-old chef who was described by his grieving family as a “doting” father.

The former Queen Anne High School pupil was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised.

Neighbours in the quiet cul-de-sac described their shock at the news, while friends took to social media to pay tribute to the former Townhill man and “his big smile”.
