Native-bred cattle show and sale

Caledonian Marts, Stirling, had forward 402 store cattle at their autumn show and sale of native breed cattle.

Overall champion went to West Dron, Bridge of Earn, with a Shorthorn bullock which sold for £1,260.

Reserve champion came from Bowridge, Carluke, with an Aberdeen-Angus bullock selling for £1,300.

Highland bullocks averaged 184ppk and sold to 192p and £900 for a pen from Cloan Estate, Auchterard­er.

Galloways & Belted Galloway bullocks averaged 182p and sold to 196p for a pen from Blairvocki­e, Rowardenna­n, and to £760 from the same home.

Beef Shorthorn bullocks averaged 201p and sold to 286p and £1,260 for the overall champion from WA MacKinnon.

Hereford bullocks averaged 191p, selling to 195p from Cowden Farm, Dollar, and to £1,160 from the same home.

Aberdeen-Angus bullocks averaged 202p, selling to 226p for the reserve champion and to £1,300 for the same beast from RW Moffat.

Other breed bullocks averaged 195p, selling to 207p for a Simmental Cross from Langholm and to £990 for a Limousin Cross from Easter Coilechat.

Highland heifers averaged 151p, selling to 186p from Cloan Estate and to £870 from CA Prentice, 8 West Bank, Ravenstrut­her.

Beef Shorthorn heifers averaged 186p, selling to 203p, from Woodcockfa­ulds, Linlithgow, and to £900 from the same home.

Aberdeen-Angus heifers averaged 193p, topping at 203p from Cowden, Dollar and to £900 from Cowden.

Other breed heifers had an average of 182p, selling to 211p for a Limousin Cross from Woodcockda­leand £990 from Woodcockda­le.

Also forward were 2,832 store lambs, ewe lambs and feeding ewes in conjunctio­n of the show and sale of Blackface wedder lambs sponsored by the Blackface Sheep Society.

Champion: A Frame, Burnside (£56.50). Reserve: Miss Cameron, Spittlehil­l (£50).

Leading prices outwith the show: Rotmell £51.50, Edentaggar­t £51. Overall average for 1,646 Blackface lambs £42.03 (+£1.02 on year).

Cross lamb leading prices: Texel Craigiever­n £68.50.

Ewe lamb leading prices: Mule£90 and £86 Devol House.

Feeding ewes leading prices: BFX £40 East Mitchelton.
