Kerr convinced Dark Blues will come good

Change in fortunes just a matter of time, says defender

Dundee’s Cammy Kerr insists he and his team-mates will come good and prove the doubters wrong.

The Dark Blues are still searching for their first league win after five games, with another setback coming against Rangers at Ibrox last Saturday.

However, 22-year-old full-back Kerr believes it is only a matter of time before there is a change in fortunes for Neil McCann’s side and they will lift themselves off the foot of the Premiership table.

The club vice-captain said: “As a team, we know what we need to work on.

“Hopefully this weekend we can put that right. We need to keep working away on the training ground to try to put the things right that aren’t going well just now.

“It would be stupid just to get the head down and roll over because we are bottom of the league after five games.

“We’ve got a really good side and I’m sure throughout this season we’ll show the fans and the doubters we are worthy of pushing further up the table.

“We are a close-knit group and obviously with boys coming into the team that haven’t played, it might take a wee while for them to bed in.

“But I’m pretty sure that given time, the boys will settle in.”

Meanwhile, Dundee skipper Darren O’Dea, who was an unused sub against Rangers on Saturday, got 45 minutes under his belt turning out for the Under-20s in their 4-2 victory over Aberdeen on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Irishman hasn’t kicked a ball for the first team since injuring his knee against Hamilton last month.

O’Dea could now come into contention for a recall when Dundee face St Johnstone at Dens on Saturday.

Mark O’Hara, Jon Aurtenetxe and Randy Wolters were also involved against the Dons, with the latter scoring a long-range goal in the win.
