Helping young people grow

- PRINCES TRUST

Young people in Perth and Kinross are being offered the chance to grow with help from the Princes Trust.

Led locally by Perth and District YMCA, its team programme kicks off again on October 2 with the aim of helping participants move on to the next step in their careers.

The programme offers a variety of training opportunities, one-to-one mentor support and encourages young people to move out of their comfort zones.

The last team enjoyed physical challenges and helped to develop a sensory garden at Woodlea cottage for children with additional support needs and their families as part of a community project.

They also led 22 children on a successful outing to a trampoline park.

For each of those ventures they had to raise funding, budget and manage the entire process themselves.

Now Perth and District YMCA – in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council and Perth College UHI – is looking for 15 new young people, aged between 16 and 25, who are not in work or education, to grab a similar opportunity.

The Princes Trust’s main focus is to achieve a positive outcome for young people, including moving onto further education, training and employment.
