Whitecrest to bag honours at Brighton

Spearing’s veteran mare is appealingly handicapped

- The ferreT

WHITECREST has been cherrypicked an eminently winnable chance at Brighton.

John Spearing’s veteran mare has already won four times at the East Sussex venue, including over this course and distance in May.

And though she was not necessarily a factor on her last visit to Brighton a week ago, Whitecrest was not beaten far into fourth place to prove she is not yet done with this season.

This six-furlong handicap lacks strength and depth as most of her rivals are bang out of form.

Whitecrest is also appealingly handicapped as she races at Brighton on the same mark off which she won at Lingfield on May 24 – her third triumph on the bounce.

The daughter of Ishiguru has had a demanding campaign – this will be her 16th start of the year. However, she is a very tough horse who should continue to pay her way throughout the autumn.

It would be folly to dismiss her claims in such a weak-looking race.

EVERKYLLACHY is worth a little look in the concluding five-furlong handicap on the card.

FLYBOY deserves respect when he goes to post at Carlisle for a sevenfurlong handicap.

The four-year-old gelding is a decent operator on his day and really ought to

have won more than once in an up-anddown sort of career.

Richard Fahey has done a fair job with him since his transfer from David O’Meara’s yard, though, as he has been placed on three of his five starts for the Malton handler. SELECTIONS:
