Harris roar back after half-time

-

Harris made it two wins from two but had to overturn a halftime deficit to see off a gutsy Aberdeen Wanderers side 36-7 in their BT Caledonia Division One match at Elliott Road.

The Dundee side conceded their first points of the season as Wanderers led 7-0 at the break with a converted try.

Some stern words from coach Bruce Beckett provoked a reaction from the hosts who dominated the second half, with a try each for Marc Wilson and Craig Robertson, and two apiece by Adam Wood and Owen McDonald. Stewart Walker kicked three conversions.

Both sides finished the match short after the referee redcarded two visiting players and one from Harris.

Alloa remain clear at the top of the table after a 55-8 home over Grangemouth Stags.

Lee Cairney and Dale Foster crossed for tries in the opening 10 minutes and were joined by Ed Waller. Grangemouth pulled back three points with a Thomas Skelton penalty before Cairney scored the bonus point try for a 24-3 half time lead.

Cairney completed his hattrick in the second half and Alloa rounded off the win with further scores for Kris Aitken, Gary Taylor, Foster and Waller.

Elsewhere, Strathmore chalked up a second successive bonus point win when they saw off Glenrothes 35-19.

Dale Bell was the star for the Inchmacoble men with three of their five converted tries, while Cammy Goodall had a brace for the home side.

There was disappointment for hosts Dunfermline as they went down 42-27 to Caithness.

Hillfoots posted a third successive bonus point win in Division Two (Midlands) a 110-14 success over Panmure.

That leaves the Tillicoultry men clear of Stirling Bridgehaugh, 45-14 winners at home to Morgan. Blairgowrie sit third after a 35-24 home success over Kirkcaldy II while Carnoustie beat Kinross 33-12.

Waid cruised to a 126-0 win over Glenrothes II at Anstruther to sit top of Division Three (Midlands) on points difference from Angus Development, 46-36 winners over Perthshire II.

Four other teams are also unbeaten, with a game in hand.

Of that quartet, Dundee University Medics saw off Stobswell 85-5, Rosyth Sharks were on the right side of 47-5 scoreline at Bannockburn, and Hillfoots II were 51-17 winners away to their Alloa counterparts.

Aberfeldy opened their account with a 46-0 win over Bo’ness.
