Workshops to help volunteers

-

Workshops are to be held in Highland Perthshire next week with the aim of helping local community volunteers discover new ways to boost fundraising.

National charity, the Rural Wisdom Project, will be at Kinloch Rannoch village hall on Friday September 29 in an effort to make training more accessible.

The event is being brought to the community in light of studies that show volunteers in rural areas often have to travel for hours to attend community events and gain training.

The project works in rural areas creating opportunities for older people to shape their communities in ways that work better for all who live there.

Holly Byron-Staples of PKAVS will run workshops on grant applications, community fundraising and gift aid.

Rosie McIntosh of Third Sector Lab will show local community groups how to create short films on their mobile phones that can then be uploaded onto Facebook or other websites to attract new members or funders.

Development worker Jill Davies said: “I have spoken to many time-strapped volunteers in rural areas who would love to access training closer to home.

“Transport is also a challenge, so bringing the workshops to rural areas makes sense.”

The sessions will run between 10am and 1pm and are open to all.
