Bus users urged to have their say

-

A Perth councillor is calling for bus users to take swift action if they want to have their say on proposed changes to services.

“It is important that the public do not sleepwalk into these changes. The consultation period is extremely tight,“warned Councillor Willie Wilson.

“As far as local services here in Cherrybank, Oakbank, Burghmuir and Hillend are concerned, the proposals are a mixture of frequency improvements but seriously longer journeys .

“I think it is really important if we are to encourage public transport use to make sure that bus services provide as rapid access to the city centre as possible.

“There are major changes to some services, so, for instance, the number 7 service is to be combined with the park and ride service (at Broxden).

“That will involve a huge change whereby bus frequency will increase every 10 minutes during the day and again every 30 minutes in the evening and on Sundays, but a minus is it is a major route change with all the journeys going through the park and ride.

“Also, the number 12 and 13 buses are going to be withdrawn, but replaced with a new 10 and 10A service.”

To comment go to the Stagecoach website and search Perthshire service change proposals. Comments must be made by Friday September 22, with changes coming into effect on November 13.
