Disappointed Bollan keen to return to game

-

Gary Bollan is determined to throw off the disappointment of losing his job as manager of Forfar and return to football.

Bollan has been hurt by his dismissal by the Station Park club which came after Saturday’s 5-0 defeat by local rivals Arbroath.

He has, however, vowed to bounce back.

Bollan said: “I will take a bit of time off to gather my thoughts but I would like to return to the game at some time.

“I have secured three promotions and saved Airdrie from relegation during my five years as a manager and that is a pretty decent track record.”

The timing of his dismissal has disappointed the former Livingston and Airdrie manager, who said: “Last season our target was to be promoted and we did that.

“At one stage it looked like we would win the league and, while we did not do that, we still hit the target of going up.”

“This season was about finishing in mid-table.

“I know Forfar are at the foot just now but three of the six games were against the top three sides.

“I believe that we would have turned things around and reached mid-table. However the club felt differently. It is disappointing but it has happened.”

Bollan succeeded Dick Campbell in the Station Park hotseat in December 2015.

Assistant boss Stuart Balmer and youth team manager Barry Sellars have been placed in charge of the Loons’ first-team affairs on a temporary basis.
