Hotel staff left terrified by drunk

- CRime

A 35-year-old man who left staff at a Perth hotel “terrified” after shouting and swearing at them and making inappropriate remarks has been jailed for 45 weeks.

David Thompson also attacked police officers after they were called to the Station Hotel on June 18 this year.

He was heavily under the influence of alcohol as he targeted staff at the hotel, going so far as to ask one whether she had ever been sexually assaulted.

Thompson also shouted and swore at another employee, bellowing abuse into her face.

The accused, described as of no fixed abode, pled guilty to four charges, including behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards staff and possession of cocaine.

He also admitted assaulting one police officer in the car park of Perth Railway Station by spitting on his body and repeatedly attempting to kick him on the head and assaulting a second officer by spitting on him and resisting arrest.

Sheriff William Wood told Thompson: “This incident must have had significant impact upon the female members of staff.

“You also tried to assault police officers. You have experience of the police and must have known it would not end well. It is quite clear that when you take alcohol you cannot control yourself.

“This was a shameful course of conduct and there is only one sentence I can impose.”
