Tough tussles in prospect
Clydesdale Western face Edinburgh University in tomorrow’s match of the day at Peffermill, writes our women’s hockey correspondent.
The Auchenhowie clash between Wildcats and MJV Wanderers also has the potential to be a bit tasty.
The Grove Menzieshill match-up against Bromac Kelburne has all the hallmarks of a comfortable home win.
In Division 2 the local universities are pitted against teams from the north, with St Andrews playing host to Merlins Gordonians while Dundee travel to face their Aberdeen counterparts.
Stirling University welcome Waverley Inveresk Trinity in Championship 1 tomorrow with Grove’s second string paying a Sunday visit to the capital to face Edinburgh University III.
Kinross are pinning hopes on their new astro facility being the catalyst for a first Championship 2 victory when Dundee University II visit.
St Andrews II are away to Kelburne II, while Perthshire face ESM at Inverleith Park.
With university teams back in action, Midland divisions 1 and 2 should have a full complement of fixtures.
Meanwhile, Dollar Academy maintained a 100% record as they emerged triumphant from the annual Midland S3 (U15) Tournament.
Standings: 1 Dollar Academy (18pt), 2 Strathallan (13), 3 Glenalmond (10), 4 Kilgraston (9), 5 Dundee High (5), 6 Morrison’s Academy (3), 7 St Leonard’s (1).

LAWRENCE INJURY BLOW Chris Lawrence was last night ruled out of Dundee Stars’ plans until Christmas.
The 30-year-old former Nottingham Panthers forward was hurt in a recent game, and medical specialists have said his leg injury is a serious one.
It’s a major blow to Stars’ coach Omar Pacha, who is now considering his options.
The 6ft 4in right-wing or centre, who was a draft pick by National Hockey League side, Tampa Bay Lightning in 2005, has played only two Elite League games for the club.
Stars have a home Challenge Cup clash with Edinburgh Capitals tomorrow.
