Motherwell urged not to get carried away
Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has challenged his players to put thoughts of Hampden out of their minds and repeat their comprehensive victory over Aberdeen.
Thursday’s 3-0 triumph set up a Betfred Cup semi-final against Rangers next month, but Robinson’s immediate concern is another game against the Dons tomorrow in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Motherwell are looking for a fifth consecutive home win, but Robinson may make changes after his players’ midweek exertions.
He told MFC TV: “There’s not much of a respite but we mustn’t get too carried away with what we have done.
“The challenge now is to go and do the exact same again. Don’t drop your standards and we will have a look and maybe freshen things up as well.”
Robinson has the likes of Gael Bigirimana, Liam Grimshaw and Craig Tanner eager for a start after making good contributions off the bench in recent weeks, while Charles Dunne is available after suspension and Elliott Frear is looking to get back in after injury.
“That’s the hard bit, you have players who have come to play, as has every player here, and it’s dealing with that disappointment and making sure you keep their enthusiasm right,” he said. “But I think we are picking the right team at the moment.
“I think we were relegation favourites from everybody, and that’s five unbeaten and four wins.
“We won’t get too carried away. For me, it’s still a squad that’s getting more understanding.”
Robinson is expected to have a fullyfit squad to choose from.
