Brown targets three points to kickstart campaign

Cowdenbeath manager Billy Brown is hoping that his side’s trip to face Clyde will be a turning point in the Blue Brazil’s season.

A run of five defeats is in danger of putting the mood in the dressing room at rock bottom.

However Brown is determined to lift spirits with three points.

“We have to try and instil a winning mentality around the club,” he said. “It is difficult to do that after the recent seasons the club has had but the players deserve praise for how they are going about things as opposed to condemnation.

“We lost 4-0 to Peterhead last weekend however the scoreline flattered them. It was not like us to lose so many goals and we actually had more possession and more shots than them.

“However no one needs to tell me that we have now gone five games without a goal.”

Brown added: “Peterhead are the best team that I have seen in our league this season. They have the likes of Willie Gibson and Rory McAllister in their ranks and they should not really be playing in this league.”

There could a similar issue at Broadwood, with Brown adding: “David Goodwillie is another player who should not be at this level based on his capability. He will need really careful watching as he remains a terrific player and the main focal point in the Clyde attack.

“We are going there hoping that we can turn our good build-up play into chances and then into goals. We are looking everywhere to try and get a goalscorer in but unfortunately it has not happened yet.”
