Aguero in sight of club record
Stage set for Manchester City striker as struggling Palace come calling
League leaders MANCHESTER CITY will be expected to brush aside a visiting Crystal Palace team who have failed to collect a point or score a goal in five league games.
City striker Sergio Aguero goes into the game two goals short of equalling the club’s long-standing scoring record of 177, set by Eric Brook.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has been as impressed by Anthony Martial’s attitude as the MANCHESTER UNITED forward’s upturn in performances.
Martial and Marcus Rashford, who scored a brace against Burton, are vying for a starting berth in today’s game at Southampton, where Nemanja Matic, Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly and David De Gea are set to return having been rested in the cup.
Romelu Lukaku is another set to come in having been an unused substitute in the middle of the week.
Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are competing to fill the midfield void against Southampton.
TOTTENHAM defender Ben Davies has shaken off an ankle injury in time for today’s game against West Ham.
Davies is expected to return along with Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Hugo Lloris and Toby Alderweireld, who were all rested for the Carabao Cup win over Barnsley on Tuesday.
Danny Rose and Victor Wanyama, however, are both out with knee injuries. Erik Lamela is still recovering from a hip problem.
CHELSEA playmaker Eden Hazard is expected to make his first Premier League start of the season at Stoke today.
Hazard has fully recovered from his broken ankle after three substitute appearances and a start, in the Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest.
Forward Pedro has recovered from the leg injury which saw him miss the Forest win, but defender David Luiz is suspended and midfielder Danny Drinkwater (calf) is out.
LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp will encourage his players to continue being their normal, attacking selves at Leicester this evening as he seeks to end a run of four matches without a win.
Defender Dejan Lovren is unlikely to feature due to a back injury.
Fellow centre-back Joel Matip is also a doubt.
Midfielder Emre Can returned to training on Thursday. Forward Sadio Mane is serving the final match of a ban.
