A property described as a productive “amenity farm” has come on the open market in central Scotland.

The 222-acre Loch House Farm is located close to Falkirk and comprises a traditional farmhouse, productive area of pasture land and amenity woodland, as well as an extensive range of modern storage buildings with an area of additional land.

It is for sale as a whole at offers over £715,000 or in three separate lots.

According to Duncan Barrie, head of farm sales at Galbraith’s Stirling office, the farm is suitable for someone “looking to purchase a productive farm offering a stable investment option whilst being able to enjoy family living in a rural setting.”

Meanwhile, a productive Sutherland livestock farm reaping the rewards of its proximity to the North Coast 500 (NC500) route has come on the market.

Inverbrora Farm, which lies between the River Brora and the North Sea, is up for sale following the decision by owners Malcolm and Sally McCall to retire from the industry.

The farm has been run by the McCall family since 1967. It previously belonged to Sutherland Estates before Mr McCall bought the property as a sitting tenant.

The 240-acre Inverbrora Farm currently carries a herd of 50 pedigree Luing cattle and a flock of 500 registered North Country Cheviot ewes.

For the past 15 years the family has run a successful bed and breakfast business from the farmhouse, which is ideally located for tourists embarking on the NC500 route – often referred to as Scotland’s answer to Route 66.

“It (bed and breakfast business) is very profitable,” said Mr McCall.

“It’s definitely better now with the NC500 and more people coming in.”

The farm is also home to a recently modernised three-bedroom holiday cottage, which has also benefited from the popularity of the new tourist route.

The farm is being sold by Strutt and Parker for offers over £975,000.

A traditional Aberdeenshire livestock farm has also been launched to the market.

Aberdeen and Northern Estates is marketing Herrickside and Wester Herricks, near Keith.

The 124-acre traditional farm property comprises a three-bedroom farmhouse, two-bedroom cottage, a range of farm buildings and farmland.

The enterprise is managed as a grassland and fattening livestock farm and carries about 80 fattening stock and 150 feeding sheep in the winter.

The property is for sale as a whole for offers over £500,000 or in two lots.

A Caithness croft extending to 308 acres is being sold by Strutt and Parker at offers over £750,000.

It includes two cottages – both in need of upgrading and modernisation – and a range of traditional and modern buildings including a general purpose shed, cattle courts and an open-sided barn.

The land is classified as a combination of Grades 3, 4 and 5, lying between 30 and 50 metres above sea level.

There are 13.5 acres of grass leys, 174.6 acres of permanent pasture, 118.4 acres of rough grazing, and 1.5 acres of other land.

The entire property is subject to crofting tenure.
