Former Flyers favourite Dingle looks forward to Fife return

-

Ryan Dingle is looking forward to a return trip to his old stomping ground at Kirkcaldy as Fife Flyers host Coventry Blaze tonight (face-off 7.15pm).

The Canadian forward is enjoying working for ex-Flyers favourite Danny Stewart in the Midlands.

He enjoyed his time in Fife but desperately wants to find the net at Kirkcaldy to add to his total of one goal and one assist in four outings for Blaze.

The left-handed centre joined Blaze in May following two hugely successful seasons with Flyers.

Dingle said: “Life in Coventry has been great so far. But when you sign with a different team in the same league one of the first things you do is check the schedule to see when your first return will be.

“I’ve had September 23 in the back of my mind for a while. I really enjoyed my time in Fife and I will always remember the great times.

“Stewy (Danny Stewart) is the one that recruited me to Fife in the first place. He knows what is important to me and what I stand for.”

Fife will look to Peter LeBlanc (two goals and four assists) and leading marksman Liam Heelis with three goals to help unlock the Blaze defence.

Meanwhile Dundee Stars face a huge game in the Challenge Cup tonight as Omar Pacha’s side faces-off with the Edinburgh Capitals for the fourth time this season.

The Dundee coach expects his side to ‘repair the mistakes’ they made against Sheffield and use this ‘big game’, to go top of the group.

“It’s a big game of the Challenge Cup phase, we need to repair the mistakes from Tuesday and so far we have four out of six points and it is our last home game of the group stage, so we want to make it count,” said Pacha.

“We have a chance to put ourselves on top and we need more points to make it into the top eight and advance to the next stage.

“It really is a huge night for us, it is another Saturday night game, so we hope we can get a good turnout and the guys can build from that and get the win.”

The Stars have only beaten Dmitri Khristich’s side once and it was a friendly at the DIA.

Dundee lost twice at Murrayfield, once on a shootout and then they were shutout 3-0 during the Scottish Cup thirdfourth place game.
