Police appeal after Perthshire resident defrauded out of £5,000
Police are appealing for information after a Perthshire resident was defrauded out of £5,000.
The Rattray householder was contacted online on September 19 by a criminal who persuaded the person to download an app called TeamViewer.
Chief Inspector Ian Scott said: “I have reported similar incidents recently where local residents have been conned out of their money and I urge people not to allow unknown people access to their computer systems.”
Meanwhile, a woman from Birnam was conned out of £100 on September 19 at 3.30pm when a male phoned her claiming she was entitled to a payment protection insurance (PPI) pay out.
Elsewhere, thieves stole 100 litres of red diesel from a bowser on the Abercairney Estate at Gilmerton.
A grey Norco 63 Canadian import mountain bike was stolen from a garden on Linnet Drive, Perth, between September 21 and 24.
And thieves stole a maroon Raleigh bike from a communal close at an address in Viewlands Place, Perth.
A silver Volkswagen Polo, parked in Dunkeld Street, Aberfeldy, had its paintwork scratched on the afternoon of September 24
And a grey Nissan Qashqai, parked in Milne Street, Perth, was vandalised between midnight and 3pm on September 23.
A petrol water pump was stolen from Strowan Woodland Cemetery in Comrie between September 18 and 20.
