One of the Highlands’ most popular holiday destinations, Macdonald Aviemore Resort, has launched a nationwide appeal for a very special festive role.

The resort – which celebrated its landmark 50th anniversary in 2016 – has long been associated with Christmas and welcomes thousands of guests each year over Christmas and New Year.

Ahead of another busy festive period, the resort is currently on the hunt for the right person to don the famous red and white suit, deliver gifts and make children’s dreams come true this Christmas.

The ideal candidate will bring a true festive spirit to the role, leaving all guests in no doubt that Christmas magic is real.

They will be expected to remain in character at all times while on the resort and demonstrate excellent time management skills to ensure everyone gets to visit his exclusive Highland Home, built on the Resort. Previous experience working with children is also desirable.

Ian Peck, managing director at Macdonald Aviemore Resort, said: “We are thrilled to announce this very special job opening and look forward to welcoming the right candidate to our festive wonderland, where they will play a vital role in spreading joy to thousands of children and families.

“The resort really is synonymous with Christmas and it’s hard to think of another setting that would be more fitting for Santa’s Highland Home than Aviemore.”

Over the decades, Aviemore has been the scene of countless childhood festive memories, including at the former Santa Claus Land, while the resort continues to run its renowned Santa Weekends and Christmas breaks for all the family.

Santa will play a starring role during the resort’s three-night themed breaks, held on the first, second and third weekends in December and for guests staying over Christmas. Visit http://bit. ly/2wh2pLN for further information.

Camille Craig, marketing manager at Macdonald Aviemore Resort, said: “Our previous Santa Claus created so many magical memories for families over the years and, now he has retired, we’re looking to continue this tradition by appointing a new head of the household at Santa’s Highland Home.”

The flagship Macdonald Aviemore Resort employs more than 200 people, including seasonal staff, and has recently been the focus of a major programme of investment.

The multimillion-pound project has included a new indoor children’s play centre, a new clubhouse for the Spey Valley golf course and significant investment to lift the Macdonald Morlich and Macdonald Aviemore hotels from three to four-star status in 2015.

In addition, three dining destinations have been created within the resort with the launch of the new Spey

Burger restaurant and refurbishment of the popular Giovanni’s Italian Ristorante to sit alongside the Aspects Restaurant.

Applications for the Santa Claus role are open until Tuesday October 31, while those who are interested can visit http:// bit.ly/2xtkTMH for further information on the position’s requirements.
